Homeostasis Model Assessment (HOMA) is a method of assessing B cell function & insulin resistance (IR) from fasting glucose and insulin or C peptide concentrations. It is an independent predictor of type 2 diabetes and a diagnostic criterion for insulin resistance. Insulin helps the uptake of glucose into muscles and other cells.
